Fresh Hope in Claudia Lawrence Case as Police Launch New Search

Police have launched a fresh search at Sand Hutton Gravel Pits in the long-running mystery of Claudia Lawrence’s disappearance more than 12 years ago. Detective Superintendent Wayne Fox, head of North Yorkshire Police’s Major Investigation Team, confirmed the operation is linked to the suspected murder of the missing chef.

Specialist Teams Deployed in Major Search

Fox revealed the search began on Tuesday 24 August 2021 and will likely last several days. Underwater search teams and forensic experts are combing the area, but officers are keeping tight-lipped about what triggered the new probe.

“The searches are just one of several active lines of enquiry currently being pursued in efforts to establish what happened to Claudia and to identify any person responsible for causing her harm,” Detective Supt Fox said.

Family Updated, Public Urged to Avoid Speculation
