Manhunt Underway After Shocking Attempted Rape at Winson Green Metro Station
Police are hunting a thug caught on CCTV after a terrifying attempted rape at Winson Green Metro station. The attack happened around 2pm on October 10, when the woman was followed and assaulted on the tram stairway.
Victim Fights Back, Attacker Flees
The predator shoved the victim to the floor and tried to rape her. She screamed for help, and the arrival of the next tram scared the attacker off. The brave victim then got help from a woman nearby — who detectives now desperately want to speak to.
Injured Victim Seeks Help, Police Launch Appeal
The victim suffered a knee injury that needed hospital treatment. Detective Inspector Ray Ascott called the attack “shocking and incredibly brazen.” He stressed the urgent need to find the culprit and thanked the quick response that stopped the assault escalating.
“I would urge anyone who recognises the man in the images to get in touch with us as soon as possible, as we believe he may be able to assist with our enquiries,” Ascott said.
CCTV Released – Police Demand Information
The British Transport Police have released CCTV shots of a man who could hold key information. Anyone who recognises him should text 61106 or ring 0800 40 50 40, quoting reference 2300120409.
Extra patrols will be patrolling Winson Green station to reassure the community and help catch this vile attacker.
