Bomb Alert at Beachy Head: WWII Sea Mine Found, Beaches Sealed Off

Police have slammed shut beaches from Birling Gap to Cow Gap near Beachy Head, Eastbourne, after several explosive devices were uncovered along the shore. Among them is believed to be a Second World War sea mine designed to blow up enemy ships.

Explosive Discovery Sparks Emergency Response

The dangerous finds were reported just after 4pm on Saturday, June 15. Authorities swiftly swung into action, with police, coastguards, and Royal National Lifeboat Institution teams joining forces to clear the area and secure the coastline.

Public Told to Keep Clear

Military Explosive Ordnance Disposal (EOD) experts have been called in to tackle the bomb squad operation. The public is strongly urged to stay well away for their own safety while the devices are carefully dealt with.
