Fatal Walworth Stabbing: Police Hunt Knife Attackers
Detectives are on the trail of those behind the brutal stabbing of 21-year-old Giovanny Rendon Bedoya in Walworth. The victim was killed in a knife attack on Hillingdon Street late Monday night.
Tragic Night in SE17
Police rushed to Hillingdon Street at 9:16pm on April 14 after multiple 999 calls reported a stabbing and sightings of knife-wielding suspects. Despite the swift response of officers and paramedics from the London Ambulance Service, Giovanny was pronounced dead at the scene.
He has now been formally identified, with specially trained officers supporting his grieving family.
Police Probe & Appeal for Witnesses
Detective Chief Inspector Kate Blackburn, leading the investigation, implores anyone who was in the area or saw suspicious behaviour to come forward.
“We know there were a number of people in the area on Monday night. Many will have seen the group involved or may have crucial information that could help us,” said DCI Blackburn.
“Were you in Hillingdon Street that evening? Did you see anyone acting suspiciously or carrying a knife? Please, if you saw or heard anything — or have footage from your phone, dashcam, or doorbell — come forward. Even a small detail could be vital.”
Six arrests have been made so far. Three suspects were released with no further action. Three remain on bail as inquiries continue.
“We’re working tirelessly to find out exactly what happened and to bring those responsible to justice,” added DCI Blackburn.
Community Shaken, Police Step Up Patrols
Detective Superintendent Emma Bond, Acting BCU Commander for Lambeth and Southwark, acknowledged the community’s shock and fear following the violence.
“This kind of violence is devastating, and I understand the fear and concern this brings to the community. We have increased patrols in the area this week — if you have any concerns or need support, please speak to our officers.”
“Our thoughts remain with Giovanny’s loved ones at this incredibly difficult time.”
