Wrong-Way Driver on M20 Halted After Police Smash

A reckless motorist driving the wrong way on Kent’s M20 was finally stopped after crashing into a police car in a jaw-dropping “tactical contact” manoeuvre.

Wild Ride Down the Wrong Side of the M20

It all kicked off Friday evening when worried drivers spotted a car heading westbound the wrong way on the coastbound carriageway towards London. The Road Policing Unit (RPU) were quick to respond, but their attempts to slow the vehicle were met with danger.

“We tried to slow the car down, but it drove straight towards us,” police revealed.

Police Take Action to Stop Crazy Driver

The Kent Police RPU then used a controlled collision to bring the rogue vehicle to a stop. Miraculously, no one was hurt in the tense incident, though the police car suffered damage.

“A tactical contact was made to safely stop the vehicle. Amazingly, nobody was injured,” the unit confirmed.

Following the drama, Kent Police confirmed they’ve contacted the DVLA to revoke the driver’s licence immediately.

Thanks to Alerted Motorists and Police Teamwork

The force praised vigilant members of the public who called in the dangerous driver and stressed it took a team effort to end the incident safely.

“The important thing is no one was hurt. Thanks to everyone who alerted us,” Kent Police tweeted.

One woman said the driver had come right at her terrified daughter, leaving her shaken.

Wrong-Way Driving Crisis Not New in Kent

Wrong-way driving on local motorways isn’t a one-off. In 2016, a man nearly faced a head-on collision on the M25 when a driver entered the wrong side. In 2019, a mysterious lorry was reported on the wrong side of the M20 but disappeared before officers arrived.

Back in 2018, a man charged after a stolen vehicle rammed a police car and sped the wrong way down the M20. And drivers still recall terrifying moments on the M20 with cars hurtling towards them at 100mph in the wrong lane.

This latest incident highlights the ongoing risks posed by wrong-way drivers on Kent’s busy motorways.
