Vandals have caused thousands of pounds worth of damage in a series of graffiti attacks around Southport’s railway since autumn 2022. The reckless acts have brought train services to a halt and wreaked havoc across the network.

Trains Vandalised, Services Disrupted

Sgt Andrew Richardson slammed the graffiti spree as far from harmless. He said: “Graffiti might seem like a victimless crime but this kind of damage takes the trains out of action, causes thousands of pounds of damage and has a knock-on effect for the whole network.”

Dangerous Stunt Risks Lives

He added: “It’s also incredibly dangerous. Is this kind of behaviour really worth risking your life for?”
