Two Prison Officers Killed in Daring French Convoy Attack
In a brutal assault on a prison convoy, two prison officers were fatally attacked on the A154 motorway in northwest France. The armed attackers rammed the convoy at a tollbooth, leaving three others seriously injured in the chaos.
Deadly Ramming Attack on Motorway
The armed gang launched a brazen “ramming car” attack at around 11:00am. Their target: a convoy transporting prisoners. The violent hit sent shockwaves through the area as security personnel were quickly overpowered. Two officers lost their lives, while three sustained serious injuries in the violent clash.
Fugitive Prisoner on the Run
The inmate at the centre of the attack managed a dramatic escape with the help of the assailants. Authorities are now in hot pursuit, racing against the clock to recapture the fugitive. French daily Le Parisien reported that the prisoner fled the scene, putting the region on high alert.
French Justice Minister Speaks Out
Justice Minister Eric Dupond-Moretti expressed deep grief over the tragedy. He said, “A prison convoy was attacked in Eure. Two of our prison officers have died, three are seriously injured. All my thoughts are with the victims, their families, and their colleagues.”
