Thieves Snatch Car Keys in Dead of Night Smash-and-Grab Spree
Kent Police sprang into action after a trio of suspected prowlers stalked private drives in Sycamore Drive, Orchard Avenue, and Rowan Close around 1.30am on Friday 20 May 2022.
One victim was left stunned when a Kia Niro vanished after the thieves swiped the car keys right from inside their home. A wallet was also nabbed but later dumped just outside the property.
Police Warn Locals to Lock Up Tight
Inspector Lizzie Jones from the Tonbridge and Malling Community Safety Unit urged residents to stay vigilant.
“While we are investigating these incidents, I would remind residents to secure doors and windows overnight,” she said.
Jones suspects the crooks were gunning for car keys left in houses to make a quick getaway.
“We have added patrols in the area during the hours of darkness and I would urge members of the public to call us on 999 if you think a crime is being committed.”
