Man, 28, Dies After Brutal Assault at Southwark Tube Station

A 28-year-old man has died after a vicious attack on a staircase at Southwark Underground Station. He was rushed to hospital in critical condition on Thursday and tragically passed away Saturday evening, with family at his side.

Suspect Arrested and Charged

Police were called to the scene at 9:44pm on Thursday following reports of an assault. Officers arrested 23-year-old Rakeem Miles from Southwark the next morning. He has been charged with grievous bodily harm with intent and remains in police custody.

Charge Set to Be Upgraded After Victim’s Death

After the victim’s death, detectives are preparing to upgrade the charge to reflect the seriousness of the incident.

Inspector Urges Witnesses to Come Forward

“There is no place for violence on the rail network,” said Senior Investigating Officer Detective Inspector Paul Attwell. “I urge anyone with information who hasn’t spoken to us yet to come forward. Our family liaison officers are supporting the victim’s family at this incredibly difficult time. My thoughts remain with them.”
