Gunman Shot Dead After Bank and Bookies Raid in Kensington
Drama unfolded on Saturday afternoon in West London after a man armed with a gun struck a bank and bookmakers on Marloes Road, W8. Police were alerted at 3.04pm, spotting the suspect entering both premises before fleeing the scene in a vehicle.
Armed Police Chase Ends in Gunfire
Just 15 minutes later, armed officers intercepted a vehicle at the junction of Kensington Road and Palace Gate, SW7. Shots were fired during the stop, and the man was hit by gunfire. Emergency services quickly arrived, with the London Ambulance Service and Air Ambulance treating the victim on scene.
Tragically, the man was pronounced dead at 4.08pm despite their best efforts.
Investigation Underway, Road Closures Continue
Authorities are currently working to identify the deceased and notify his family. The Metropolitan Police’s Directorate of Professional Standards has been informed, and the case has been referred to the Independent Office for Police Conduct.
Several road closures remain in place across the area, with the public urged to avoid Kensington Road, Palace Gate, and Marloes Road for the foreseeable future.

Police confirmed the shooting is not being treated as terrorism, focusing instead on standard criminal investigation procedures.
