Suspected Sex Offender Caught During South East London Shop Raid
Police officers swooped on a shop in New Cross Road, South East London, arresting a suspected sex offender during a raid sparked by tips about stolen goods being sold on the premises.
Huge Haul of Stolen Items and £15,000 Cash Found
The raid on Thursday, January 18, uncovered a large stash of items believed to be stolen. Officers also seized £15,000 in cash hidden inside the business.
Initially, the suspect was arrested on suspicion of handling stolen goods. But as the probe deepened, detectives uncovered more disturbing allegations.
Old Sexual Assault Allegations Surface
Further investigation revealed the man had prior accusations of sexually assaulting girls under 13 years old. This chilling discovery prompted the Met Police’s Child Abuse Investigation Team to step in.
The suspect was promptly re-arrested on new charges related to sexual offences.
