Burglars Nabbed Just 30 Minutes After Sports Direct Break-In

Kent Police sprang into action after an alarm at Sports Direct in Chatham. Within half an hour of the break-in, two suspected burglars were caught red-handed.

Chatham Break-In Sparks Rapid Police Response

Officers were called to the High Street store at 1:08 a.m. on Wednesday, August 17, 2022, following reports of a forced entry. The crooks had smashed a door and stolen clothing and shoes. Several bags of boxed trainers were found dumped near the premises.

Suspects Found Hiding in Bushes – Arrested and Released

When police first arrived, the men had fled. But a swift search in the surrounding streets and alleyways led to their discovery hiding in a bush nearby. The duo, aged 45 and 51, both local to Chatham, were arrested for burglary, theft preparation, and carrying a bladed article in public.

They have since been released pending further investigation.
