Taxi Driver Left Fighting for Life After Brutal Colne Assault

Police are hunting for suspects after a taxi driver suffered potentially life-changing injuries in a shocking attack in Colne. The incident unfolded at around 7.45pm on February 9, initially reported as a collision on Ruskin Avenue.

Man in His 60s Punched and Beaten in Street

When officers arrived, they found a man in his 60s had been violently assaulted, sustaining serious neck injuries. It’s believed he was knocked to the ground and attacked by a man and a woman, who then fled to a nearby property.

The victim remains in hospital in a serious but stable condition. No arrests have been made yet, but police say the investigation is ongoing and urgent.

Police Seek Witnesses and Footage—Especially Cyclists Who Helped Victim

Detectives are calling on anyone with dashcam, CCTV, or mobile phone footage to come forward. They are especially eager to speak with two cyclists who stopped to move the injured driver off the roadside, as well as drivers who were passing nearby during the assault.

“This is a particularly nasty attack which has left a man with extremely serious injuries and my thoughts are with him and his family at this time,” said Insp Andy Ainsworth of Pendle Police. “I know this incident will have caused a lot of concern in the community, particularly for taxi drivers.

“We have increased patrols and police presence in the area. Our investigation team is working tirelessly to identify those responsible. We urge anyone with information to come forward.”
