Thieves have been breaking into homes in Southampton by exploiting unlocked doors, open windows, and even fishing keys through letterboxes. Once inside, they’re stealing cars and valuable possessions.
Burglary Spree Hits Southampton Homes
Between Friday 13 July and Sunday 15 July, ten houses in Southampton and one in West End were targeted by burglars. Police are investigating a wave of similar break-ins across the city and surrounding areas.
Two Teens Arrested Over Burglaries
In a swift response, officers arrested two 16-year-old boys yesterday on suspicion of burglary. Both remain in police custody as investigations continue.
Police Warn: Don’t Leave Doors and Windows Wide Open
Following 15 recent burglaries in the Bitterne area involving stolen car keys and vehicles, Hampshire Police urge residents to stay vigilant. “It’s warm out there, but don’t make it easy for thieves,” the force warns.

- Lock doors with a key – don’t just pull up the handle.
- Store house and car keys away from windows and doors, never leave them in locks.
