Buzzard Shot and Left to Die in Otham Street Garden

A shocked passerby spotted a buzzard tumbling into a garden on Otham Street after it was blasted with a gunshot at around 3.30pm on Friday, 3 February 2023.

Bird Dies Despite Emergency Vet Care

The injured bird was rushed to a veterinary clinic for urgent treatment. But the damage was too severe, and the buzzard had to be put down.

Buzzards are safeguarded under the Wildlife and Countryside Act. Officers are now desperate for witnesses to come forward. Sergeant Darren Walshaw said:

“We are investigating this with the RSPCA. We believe the bird was shot deliberately.”

He added there were multiple people nearby, including walkers, locals in gardens, and two individuals on a roof of a nearby property. Authorities want everyone who saw anything to speak up.
