New Project Servator Officers Hit London’s Roads and Transport
London’s streets, buses, stations, and transport hubs just got tougher to target. Fresh-faced RTPC Project Servator officers are now patrolling in full force. Their mission? To spot and stop terrorists and criminals before they strike.
On the Ground and Behind the Screens
These officers won’t just be visible on roads and buses. They’ll be conducting vehicle checks across key spots in London and watching from CCTV control rooms. Backed by top tools like Automatic Number Plate Recognition (ANPR), firearms units, and sniffer dogs, they’re a force to be reckoned with.
But it’s not all about high-tech gear. Officers will also chat with business owners, community partners, and the public, urging everyone to be extra vigilant and report anything suspicious.
Stopping Terrorism in Its Tracks
Project Servator is no ordinary patrol. It’s a specialist counter-terrorism tactic designed to deter, detect, and disrupt criminal and terrorist activity. Officers are trained to spot the signs of someone gearing up for trouble. They operate both in uniform and plain clothes, showing up anywhere, anytime, keeping London safe and sending a clear warning to those with bad intentions.
More Eyes, More Safety
The new team will boost existing Project Servator patrols in busy hotspots like shopping centres, tourist attractions, the Square Mile, and airports. They’re teaming up with City of London Police, British Transport Police, and the Ministry of Defence Police to create a tighter security net across the capital.
Inspector James Beattie, Roads and Transport Policing Command, said:
“This is good news for the travelling public and bad news for anyone with terrorist or criminal intent.
The introduction of specially-trained RTPC Project Servator officers will make life even more difficult for potential terrorists and criminals to operate across London’s roads and transport network. Consequently, we are making a safer and more secure environment for members of the travelling public.
Don’t be surprised if you see us pop up. It is nothing to worry about and we will be talking to members of the public and urging them to help us. Defeating terrorism requires a collective community effort where police, security staff, retail workers and the public come together to minimise the chance of attacks. The cooperation between the public and the police is a powerful defence against terrorism.”
Stay Alert, Stay Safe
Since 2018, Project Servator teams have made more than 1,000 arrests and gathered over 2,000 pieces of crucial intelligence. Now, with this new wave of officers on the beat, London’s transport network will be safer than ever.
Remember: if something doesn’t feel right, report it immediately to police, security, or staff. Together, Londoners can keep their city safe.
