Police Hunt Suspect After Shocking Sexual Assault on Ilford Bus
The Met’s Roads and Transport Policing Command have released a photo of a man they want to quiz following the sexual assault of a teenage boy on a London bus.
Teen Targeted on Route 179 Bus
At around 7.30pm on Friday 2 July, a 15-year-old schoolboy boarded the Route 179 bus near Ilford station. He sat alone on the top deck, rear seats.
The suspect followed and sat next to the boy. He tried to engage him in sexual conversation, which the victim ignored. Then the man sexually touched the teenager multiple times over 20 minutes.
Terrified, the boy got off the bus and told his mum. Police were alerted immediately.
Suspect Spotted Leaving at Woodford Green
The man got off several stops later at Southend Road, Woodford Green bus stop.
The victim managed to film the suspect on his phone. Detectives describe him as an Eastern European male, about 35, with receding short brown hair and rough stubble.
Police Plea: Help Identify This Man
Detective Chief Inspector Michael Dougall: “Do you recognise this man? Were you on the Route 179 bus or saw anything suspicious around Ilford or Woodford Green? No detail is too small. We must identify him.”
