“The vast majority of Londoners have stuck to the rules and responded positively to the unprecedented situation we are in. We thank them for that.
“Despite the relaxation of rules, officers have tackled challenging incidents like unlicensed music events—sometimes facing hostility and violence. In many cases, proactive policing prevented these events altogether.
“Now, there’s a renewed need for everyone to do their bit to minimise transmission of this potentially deadly disease. Our officers will explain the regulations but will firmly deal with those who deliberately break the law and put communities at risk.”
“We urge people to report serious breaches via 101 or online. But remember, some exemptions apply; not every call will trigger an immediate police response.
“With crime and other demands returning to normal levels, the Met will juggle these alongside COVID enforcement to keep Londoners safe.”
