Two violent shootings in London’s Dagenham and Brixton have left one man dead and another injured in just two days.
Teen Shot in Dagenham Gunfire Drama
On September 7, chaos erupted outside flats on Braintree Road, Dagenham, when gunshots rang out. A 17-year-old boy was rushed to hospital with non-life-threatening injuries after the shooting. Police were called at 6.21pm to reports of gunfire and a large crowd, but the scene quickly emptied before officers arrived.
Officers soon spotted a suspicious vehicle nearby and gave chase all the way to Abercorn Gardens in Romford. During the pursuit, occupants threw several items out the window, including two zombie knives – later recovered by police. The car was stopped in Barley Lane, Ilford, where two 17-year-olds and a 19-year-old were arrested for possession of offensive weapons. All remain in custody.
Fatal Shooting Rocks Brixton Hill
Just a day later, tragedy struck in Brixton Hill.
At 8.50pm on September 8, police found a 27-year-old man fatally shot and another man aged 20 injured on Forster Road. Both were taken to hospital, but the 27-year-old died in the early hours of September 9.
The victim’s family has been informed and are being supported by specialist officers.
“My team are working at pace to establish the full circumstances that led to this man’s tragic death,” said Detective Chief Inspector Sarah Lee. “Our thoughts remain with the victim’s family and friends at this very difficult time.”
Police Ramp Up Patrols, Appeal for Witnesses
A crime scene remains active on Forster Road, and residents can expect an increased police presence. Authorities are urging locals around New Park Road to check any doorbell or CCTV footage that might help their inquiries.
These deadly events highlight a worrying spike in violence across London. Police vow to crack down and bring those responsible to justice.
