Police have since made big breakthroughs. A man and a woman were arrested this afternoon in Southend as part of the ongoing investigation.
Top Cop Reassures Locals: No Wider Threat
Chief Superintendent Stuart Hooper said: “We understand the heavy police presence today caused concern. This was not a live incident, and there’s no threat to anyone in the area.”
He added: “The suspects will be questioned on suspicion of firearm offences. The victims were uninjured but shaken. The incident appears contained and involved people known to each other.”
Hooper also confirmed the case has no link to other recent incidents in the city, assuring the public that safety remains secure.
The investigation is ongoing.
