Two Nabbed After High-Speed Lewisham Police Chase
Chaos erupted in the early hours of Wednesday as a high-speed police chase tore through Lewisham, Greenwich, and Bexley. Two suspects linked to a burglary were finally caught after a dramatic pursuit involving multiple police units and a helicopter.
Cross-Borough Chase Ends in Arrests
The wild hunt kicked off just before 4am on 23 April when officers tried to stop a vehicle suspected of burglary ties. The suspects bolted, sparking a cross-borough chase that saw elite police drivers use “tactical contact” to bring the getaway car to a halt safely.
Thanks to the quick thinking and support from the National Police Air Service (NPAS) helicopter, both suspects were arrested on the spot and taken into custody.
Police Confirm No Injuries, Investigation Continues
A Lewisham Metropolitan Police spokesperson said: “A cross-borough pursuit of two burglary suspects through Lewisham, Greenwich and Bexley has led to the arrest of both suspects with the help of the NPAS police helicopter. Both suspects were caught and taken into custody after tactical contact was used by police drivers.”
The arrests were made at 03:55 on Wednesday, 23 April. No injuries were reported during the chase, and police confirm inquiries into the burglary remain ongoing.
