Kent Police Wants You: Join the Independent Police Advisory Group!

Fancy having your say on how Kent Police serve the community? The Independent Police Advisory Group (IPAG) is on the lookout for fresh volunteers. Acting as a critical friend to the force, this independent group helps improve policing for people of all backgrounds.

What’s the IPAG All About?

  • Volunteers share insights on race, gender, age, sexual orientation, and disability issues.
  • They provide valuable feedback on how policing affects local communities.
  • Members advise during critical incidents and help shape better police services.

Superintendent Rachel McNeil, head of Kent Police’s Diversity and Inclusion Academy, said: “We welcome anyone bursting with leadership, energy, and confidence to give honest, constructive feedback. Volunteers come from minority and diverse backgrounds, offering views Kent Police listens to and acts on.”

Local Heroes and Volunteer Shout-Outs

Elaine Bolton, IPAG county vice chairperson, recently bagged a Certificate of Recognition from Chief Constable Alan Pughsley. Elaine’s been a volunteer powerhouse covering Tunbridge Wells, Tonbridge, and Malling, tackling hate crime, domestic abuse, and protecting vulnerable people.

Supt McNeil added: “Elaine’s passion and tireless work have helped shape Kent Police’s response to vital issues. We’re keen to welcome more volunteers ready to be the voice of Kent’s communities and businesses.”
