Horrific Discovery at Castlefields Park

Wiltshire Police are hunting for answers after a chilling find near Station Road, Calne. On January 3, 2025, at around 8 a.m., a member of the public stumbled upon several dead ducks near the skatepark in Castlefields Park. What police describe as ‘deliberate harm’ has left the community stunned.

Disturbing Details Unearthed

The Wiltshire Rural Crime Team confirmed the ducks’ breasts had been removed, and X-rays revealed the birds were shot with an unknown weapon. It’s unclear if the ducks were killed elsewhere and dumped or died locally.

Police Speak Out

PCSO Mark Cook from the Calne Neighbourhood Policing Team said:

“We are greatly concerned about this incident. The circumstances suggest deliberate harm to the ducks, which is troubling to the community and to us as investigators.”

He added:

“We’re working closely with the Wiltshire Rural Crime Team. Extra patrols are out in Castlefields Park and Station Road. We urge locals to report any suspicious behaviour around the waterways.”
