Victim Kidnapped in Mistaken Identity Ordeal
A man was forced into a black saloon car and driven around for 30 minutes before being dropped off in Rochester — all because three men thought he was someone else.
Half-Hour Horror Ride in Frindsbury Road
The victim was walking along Frindsbury Road on Wednesday, 31 March 2021, around 11am when three men in the car approached him. One allegedly dragged him inside the vehicle. The men bombarded him with questions during the terrifying drive.
Luckily, the men soon realised they had the wrong person. They stopped the car and dumped the man, who was unsure of his location but is believed to have been released in Rochester.
Police Appeal After Mistaken Identity Kidnap
“This was a frightening incident for the victim,” said Detective Constable Craig Hewitt. “We believe this was a case of mistaken identity and don’t want to cause alarm in the community. It appears the victim was targeted because the offenders thought he was somebody else, not randomly.”
“If anyone recognises the men or suspects they might have been the intended target, please get in touch. We want to progress this investigation and offer safeguarding if necessary.”
