Woman Fighting for Life After Horror Double-Decker Crash at Victoria Station
A woman is in a critical condition after being hit by a double-decker bus outside London Victoria station. The crash happened at a notoriously dangerous junction, where two people have already died in the past three years.
Junction Under Fire After Yet Another Tragedy
The smash occurred around 11am. Authorities confirmed the woman’s injuries are life-threatening. This grim spot has seen fatal accidents before. In January, 56-year-old Catherine Finnegan lost her life here. Back in August 2021, 32-year-old Melissa Burr also died at the same location.
Bus Worker Blames Pedestrians, But Calls for Safer Streets
Youcef Fk, 26, who works for a sightseeing bus company in Victoria, gave a chilling account to the Daily Telegraph. Police told him about the collision, and he pointed to the dangerous layout of the junction. “The pavement is too close to the road,” he said, “which means buses often have to edge very close to pedestrians.”
He insisted the problem isn’t bad drivers but pedestrians crossing without enough caution — something he says has led to many near misses. His company has repeatedly warned authorities about the risks.
Calls for Action Mount as Officials Consider Safety Overhaul
Following the latest tragedy, safety campaigners are pushing for urgent changes at the junction. After Ms Finnegan’s death, London Mayor Sadiq Khan showed willingness to explore redesigns of Victoria station to reduce risk.
The Metropolitan Police confirmed the crash and said Buckingham Palace Road has been closed while investigations continue. The London Ambulance Service rushed ambulance crews and a trauma team to the scene.
The community is reeling, demanding better protection to prevent more heartbreaking accidents at this deadly crossroads.
