Murder Investigation Underway in Treforest: 30-Year-Old Daniel Rae Identified as Victim
In a tragic development in Treforest, Rhondda Cynon Taf, South Wales Police have launched a murder investigation following the death of 30-year-old Daniel Rae. The incident, which has shocked the local community, took place at a house on Princess Street just before 20:00 GMT on Sunday.
Detective Superintendent Mark O’Shea, leading the investigation, stated that the Major Crime Unit is handling the case. The area around the incident has been cordoned off as part of the ongoing investigation. Det Supt O’Shea emphasized that while the investigation continues, the public should not be alarmed. “This is a contained incident, and we do not believe there is any wider risk to the public,” he reassured.
In a recent update, Det Supt O’Shea confirmed the arrest of three individuals in connection with Mr. Rae’s death. Two men, a 22-year-old from Birmingham and a 33-year-old from Glyncoch, Pontypridd, have been arrested on suspicion of murder. Additionally, a 21-year-old woman has been arrested on suspicion of assisting an offender and conspiring to pervert the course of justice.
The detective superintendent reiterated the belief that this was a targeted incident, urging anyone in the vicinity of Princess Street or Broadway around 7.30pm on Sunday, or anyone with pertinent information, to come forward. “No matter how insignificant you might think it is, please get in touch. Your information could be crucial to our investigation,” he added.
The Major Crime Investigation Team (MCIT), along with officers and staff from across South Wales, is diligently working on Daniel Rae’s murder case.
