Inferno in Putney: 40 Firefighters Battle Blaze on Schubert Road

Chaos broke out on Schubert Road, Putney, last night as six fire engines and around 40 firefighters rushed to tackle a fierce house fire. The blaze hit a semi-detached property hard, gutting half of the second floor and damaging part of the first.

Swift Action Saves Lives

The fire erupted at 8.24pm, triggering a rapid response from crews stationed across Wandsworth, Battersea, Fulham, and Tooting. There were no reported injuries, a rare bit of good news amid the chaos. Firefighters used a 32-metre turntable ladder as an observation tower, giving the Incident Commander the upper hand in controlling the scene.

Fire Under Control in Just Over an Hour

By 9.45pm, the blaze was brought under control thanks to the swift and coordinated efforts of the London Fire Brigade. Their quick thinking in deploying aerial observation was crucial in preventing the fire from spreading further.

Cause of Blaze Still Unknown

The origin of the fire remains a mystery. Fire officers are continuing their investigation to figure out how the inferno began.

A London Fire Brigade spokesperson said: “The rapid response from our teams, aided by aerial observation, was key in containing the fire and limiting damage.”
