A 73-year-old passenger tragically died on board Singapore Airlines flight SQ321 from London Heathrow to Singapore after the plane hit severe turbulence. Authorities believe the man suffered a heart attack during the shocking incident.
Chaos on Board: Multiple Injuries After Mid-Air Turbulence
The Boeing 777-300ER, carrying 211 passengers and 18 crew, encountered violent turbulence mid-flight. Seven passengers remain in critical condition. Another 23 passengers and nine crew members were also injured, with more than 30 people hurt in total.
Flight Diverted to Bangkok Amid Emergency Response
Flight SQ321 was forced to divert and made an emergency landing in Bangkok at 15:45 local time (8am GMT). Singapore Airlines offered its deepest condolences to the family of the deceased and confirmed the ongoing response efforts with local Thai authorities.
A spokesperson said: “Our priority is providing all possible assistance to passengers and crew. We are working closely with local officials to arrange medical care and have dispatched a team to support those affected.”

Singapore’s Transport Minister Chee Hong Tat expressed his sorrow on Facebook, saying:
“I am deeply saddened by the incident onboard SQ321. The Ministry of Transport, Foreign Affairs, Civil Aviation Authority, and Changi Airport are all providing full support to passengers and families. My deepest condolences go out to the bereaved family.”
Severe thunderstorms are believed to have triggered roughly 90 minutes of turbulence just hours before the flight’s scheduled arrival in Singapore.
