Firefighters rushed to Wilton Way in Hackney this morning (January 20) after a 30-seater bus caught fire.

The fierce blaze not only gutted the bus but also damaged six other vehicles and parts of nearby properties. Thankfully, all passengers had already escaped before crews arrived, and no injuries were reported.

Rapid Response From Fire Brigade

  • The Brigade’s 999 Control Officers received 42 emergency calls reporting the fire.
  • Firefighters from Bethnal Green Fire Station were dispatched at 8:13am.
  • They doused the flames by 9:20am, bringing the situation under control.

The swift action prevented a potential disaster and kept casualties at bay.
