Illegal Rave Crashed by Police in East London
East London cops were called out to Tidworth Road, E3, shortly after 1.30am on Saturday, 27 February after dozens of concerned neighbours dialled 999.
Rave in Railway Arch: 100 Partygoers Flee to Graveyard
A gang of around 10 had smashed into a derelict railway arch and set up a dodgy party, using wooden crates to create a makeshift bar. Word soon spread, and by the time police arrived, some 100 revellers had rocked up.
When officers swooped, many of the crowd scrambled off, jumping over high walls into a nearby graveyard — a dangerous escape!
Territorial Support Group Brought In to Bust Rave
Reinforcements from the Met’s Territorial Support Group were called in to control the chaos. Twenty people were detained and slapped with £800 fixed penalty notices each.
Chief Inspector Pete Shaw said: “It is mad that people are still prepared to break the rules, despite the extreme loss of a life as a result of this virus. It is shameful some people are selfishly putting others at risk.
“With the roadmap announcement last week, we are all very excited at the prospect of returning to normal in June. However, events such as this risk undermining that roadmap and could cause further delays by creating a breeding ground for the virus.
We will continue to do our part in shutting them down and taking action by issuing fines.”
