Emergency Crews Swarm Gloucester Place
At around 11:00 PM, police and paramedics descended on Gloucester Place amid concerns for the welfare of a man reportedly suffering a mental health episode. The dramatic scene saw at least four police vans, seven other police vehicles, and two ambulances roll up to the spot.
Eyewitnesses described flashing blue lights and officers cordoning off the area close to both the Premier League and GB News offices.
Man Found Near Dudley House, Restrained for Safety
The man was located near Dudley House, right by the Premier League building entrance. Police had been called due to safety concerns and possibly an attempted attempt to access the premises, although this has not been confirmed.
A Metropolitan Police source confirmed the man was restrained for safety reasons before being assessed and treated by London Ambulance Service paramedics. He was then taken to hospital for further mental health support.
No Connection to Premier League or GB News
Online rumours hinted at a link between the incident and either the Premier League or GB News, but sources close to both organisations have denied any connection.
The road remained partially closed while police handled the situation. Fortunately, no injuries were reported to officers or the public.
Official Statements Pending
A London Ambulance Service spokesperson said: “We were called at 10.29pm last night (23 April) about a person unwell in North Wharf Road, Paddington. We sent an ambulance crew, a paramedic in a fast response car, an advanced paramedic, and an incident response officer. We treated the patient at the scene and took him to hospital as a priority.”
Full statements from the police and London Ambulance Service are expected on Thursday morning.
This is a developing story.
