Everton Board Banned from Southampton Clash Over Security Fears
Safety Threat Forces Board Stay Away
Everton’s entire Board of Directors has been told to stay away from today’s Premier League game against Southampton due to a “real and credible threat to their safety and security,” the club confirmed.
Chairman Bill Kenwright, CEO Denise Barrett-Baxendale, Chief Finance & Strategy Officer Grant Ingles, and Non-Executive Director Graeme Sharp all accepted the grim verdict from security experts.
Malicious Threats and Rising Aggression
The club revealed they had received “malicious and unacceptably threatening correspondence” alongside a spike in anti-social behaviour and targeted physical attacks at recent home fixtures. This escalation forced a tough decision.
A Security & Safety Advisor said:
“Following a thorough risk assessment, and in response to tangible threats and intelligence gathered, Board members must not attend today’s fixture.”
Historic and Unprecedented Move
Everton’s spokesperson admitted this was a first in the club’s history.
“Never before has our entire Board of Directors been ordered not to attend a match on safety grounds. It’s a terrible day for Everton and Evertonians.”
The alarming security fears cast a dark shadow over what should be a routine Premier League encounter.
