A249 Chaos: 7 Miles of Standstill Traffic After Van Crashes Into Central Barrier

Rush Hour Nightmare on the A249

The A249 is at a complete standstill with 5 to 7 miles of stationary traffic following a White Ford Transit van crashing into the central barrier during Thursday evening’s rush hour.

Hundreds of drivers are stranded on the dual carriageway near the Stockbridge Roundabout, trying to reach the M2 or head towards Sittingbourne and the Isle of Sheppey.

Emergency Services Grit Teeth and Respond

Police, paramedics, and recovery crews rushed to the scene. Kent Roads Policing officers confirmed the van driver escaped serious injury, though the vehicle itself ended mangled on the barrier.

All approach roads are jam-packed with nose-to-tail traffic. Frustrated drivers have no choice but to breathe in the bumper-to-bumper chaos.
