North London School Shuts After Blaze Ravages Upper Floors

A fire has forced Preston Manor School in Wembley, North London, to close part of its campus after flames tore through the upper school lobby and reception. Shocking footage shows charred rooms and debris dangling from the ceiling.

Upper School Closed, Lower School Reopens

The blaze hit on Wednesday evening, January 18, leading to a shutdown of the upper school until Monday, January 23. The Preston Manor Music Academy will also remain closed on Saturday, January 21. Thankfully, the lower school is back open and running as usual.

“Remote learning sessions are currently underway while repairs get going,” the school confirmed.

Firefighters Race to Save School After Blaze Breaks Out

Four fire engines and about 25 firefighters from Wembley, Willesden, and Stanmore stations tackled the blaze on Carlton Avenue East. Around 20 people escaped the building before crews arrived. The London Fire Brigade reported no injuries and said the fire was likely accidental.

The emergency call came at 8.04pm, with the fire under control by 9.25pm.
