CCTV Captures Crucial Sighting of Missing Firefighter in Lewes

A CCTV camera caught Anthony Walking walking near Lewes Fire Station on Market Street at 7.40pm last Friday. This was just 20 minutes after he was last seen leaving the Lamb of Lewes pub.

Anthony, a firefighter from Orpington in Kent, has now been missing for seven days, sparking a huge search operation across Lewes. His partner has confirmed the CCTV images, which have been passed to Sussex Police to aid the ongoing investigation.

Desperate Search Gathers Pace as Concerns Grow

Detective Chief Inspector Alasdair Henry expressed deep concern: “It has now been a number of days since Anthony was reported missing and we are growing increasingly concerned for his welfare.”

Specialist police teams, emergency services, and dozens of volunteers have scoured the area extensively. Searches have included the Pells Pool and surrounding flood-hit areas, with local businesses, bus, rail, and taxi services interviewed. Drones, dog units, and the National Police Air Service helicopter have been deployed to leave no stone unturned.

Distinctive Details and Plea for Information

Anthony is described as white, around 6ft tall, medium build, with short gelled medium-brown hair. He has a distinctive walk with a slight bounce. When last seen, he wore a black long-sleeve top, dark denim suit-style jacket, dark denim jeans, and black shoes.

He was separated from his group outside the Lamb pub on Fisher Street just before 7.30pm on Friday, 20 December.

Chief Inspector Sarah Godley urged anyone with information to come forward: “We hope this latest image of him may jog someone’s memory or help provide some new information about his disappearance.”

How to Help Find Anthony

  • If you saw Anthony or have any relevant information, contact Sussex Police online or call 101, quoting Operation Barnstaple.
  • In an emergency, dial 999 immediately.

The search continues relentlessly, with officers planning further sweeps of Pells Pool and the river as floodwaters recede. Anthony’s family and friends are desperate for answers — and the police say they won’t stop until he’s found.
