Watch Out for COVID-19 Refund Scams!
Scammers are on the prowl, sending fake messages claiming to be from your council or HMRC. They promise financial help or tax refunds to lure you in. But don’t be fooled – it’s all a trick.
Don’t Click That Link!
These scam messages push you to click dodgy links. Once you do, they’ll ask for personal info like your name, address, or bank details. Ignore them. Don’t reply, don’t click, don’t engage.
How to Spot and Report Fake Messages
- Legit HMRC never contacts you out of the blue with refunds or offers.
- If you get a suspicious email, forward it to [email protected].
- Fake texts? Forward them to 60599.
