Kent Police have confirmed the grim discovery of a body as they searched for a missing 76-year-old woman from Northfleet. Officers recovered the woman’s body at Gravesend’s Town Pier around midday on Thursday, 24 April.

Family Notified, Identity Pending

Although formal identification has yet to take place, the missing woman’s family—reported missing since Monday, 7 April—has been informed. Police have stressed there is no suspicious circumstance surrounding the death.

“Officers searching for a missing woman from Gravesham attended Town Pier in Gravesend at around midday on Thursday 24 April 2025, where the body of a woman was located. The death is not being treated as suspicious and a report is being prepared for the coroner.”

The circumstances of the woman’s disappearance remain unclear, with the cause of death now in the hands of the coroner. The case sparked a huge community response, with locals and volunteers rallying to help find her.
