Heathrow Border Force Staff to Strike Again After Half Term
Border Force workers at Heathrow Airport have slammed the brakes on smooth travel with new strike dates set for 31 May, 1 and 2 June. The industrial action doesn’t stop there – from 4 to 25 June, staff will enforce a work-to-rule and ban overtime, causing major delays at UK passport controls.
What’s Behind the Disputes?
Over 500 PCS union members are furious over a new Home Office roster system. They’ve already had their say with strikes earlier this month but remain unsatisfied. The union warns these fresh walkouts will hit passport checks hard, bringing chaos to terminals 2, 3, 4, and 5 at Heathrow.
Fran Heathcote, PCS General Secretary, said: “We want to resolve this dispute but the Home Office must first put something on the table for our members to consider. Until it comes back with changes to the roster that will benefit our members then the dispute will continue.”
Airport Braces for Impact
Heathrow has promised to work closely with the Home Office to keep disruption to a minimum. A spokeswoman said previous strikes were “dealt with well” and “managed successfully” – but with fresh action looming, passengers should prepare for lengthy queues and delays.
We have contacted the Home Office for comment but have yet to receive a response.
