Brighton’s Iconic i360 Tower Saved in Major Nightcap Takeover
Brighton’s iconic i360 Tower is here to stay after hospitality giant Nightcap Limited swooped in with a game-changing deal. The award-winning group, founded by Brighton locals Sarah Willingham and Michael Toxvaerd, has snapped up the landmark to keep it buzzing and revamp its offering.
Debt-Free Deal Secures i360’s Future
Brighton & Hove City Council cleared the site’s debt, paving the way for Nightcap to take control of the remaining 115-year lease. This crucial move guarantees the i360 will continue drawing over 250,000 visitors every year, keeping the city’s skyline alive and vibrant.
Nightcap Boosts Brighton’s Hospitality Scene
With this takeover, Nightcap now runs 46 venues across the UK, including big names like The Cocktail Club, Luna Springs, and Dirty Martini. The firm plans to turn the i360 into a bustling social and entertainment hotspot.
Sarah Willingham, Nightcap CEO, said: “We couldn’t be happier to welcome the i360 to the Nightcap family. Thanks to Brighton & Hove City Council, we’ll keep this iconic landmark open. We want to make the West Pier part of Brighton a thriving hub for everyone.”
The i360 boasts 20,000 square feet of hospitality space packed with bars, cafés, event spaces, and entertainment zones. Added bonuses include 75 metres of beach frontage, a beach bar, rooftop terraces, and outdoor trading areas — ripe for Nightcap’s creative touch.
A Fresh Start with Full Community Backing
The deal came free of any debt or old liabilities, allowing Nightcap to pump investment into the venue’s future. It fits perfectly with their mission to create top nightlife, live music venues, and vibrant entertainment spots.
Willingham added: “We pass the i360 every day and were as gutted as everyone when it went into administration. Its closure would have hit local businesses hard and left a stain on the seafront. We hope the local community backs us as we embark on this new chapter.”
Local politicians and business leaders are thrilled. Peter Kyle, MP for Hove and Portslade, said:
“The council faced a choice: let the i360 rot like the West Pier or support a fresh start. I’m over the moon they chose the latter. This will be the jewel in Brighton’s seafront crown.”
Deputy Leader of Brighton & Hove City Council, Jacob Taylor, echoed the praise:
“Nightcap’s passion for Brighton is obvious. This is the best way to revive the i360 and ensure the seafront thrives.”
Brighton’s Bright Future with Nightcap at the Helm
Nightcap’s commitment promises fresh energy for Brighton’s entertainment scene. Rachel Clark, CEO of West Pier Trust, praised the takeover:
“Nightcap understands Brighton’s unique vibe. We look forward to a successful partnership.”
Charlie Carter from Interpath, who managed the deal for the administrators, celebrated the outcome:
“This transaction brings the i360 back to life, creating jobs and boosting investment. We wish Nightcap every success.”
