Call the Midwife fans, rejoice! Filming has kicked off for the beloved BBC drama’s fifteenth series — and there’s a festive Christmas special in the works. The iconic period drama is back, promising more moving tales from London’s East End.

Cast Reunion and Crew Gearing Up

According to The Sun, the trusty cast including Linda Bassett, Cliff Parisi, Georgie Glen, and Stephen McGann are ready to return to their cherished roles. An insider revealed, “Pre-production is already in full swing and scripts are being finalised. The cast will all reunite from next month to shoot their scenes for the new series as well as the Christmas special.”

Christmas Special Takes Centre Stage

The festive episode remains a highlight for producers, who are prioritising it ahead of the traditional New Year series launch.

“The biggest challenge, like always, is the crew transforming the set to make it look like the depths of winter, just as the weather gets milder, with the cast layering up too,” the source added.

Future of Call the Midwife: Spin-Off or Break?

Speculation about the show’s long-term future has been stirring. Series creator Heidi Thomas hinted at possible changes, telling Radio Times: “Those of us who are most invested with the show, cast and producers alike, who have been there since the beginning, it is our lives. I don’t believe Call the Midwife will ever end. But I do think we might take a break at some point.”

Since its debut in 2012, the show has gripped viewers with its emotional depth and authentic portrayal of post-war East End London.

What’s Next for Nonnatus House?

With filming underway and a Christmas special confirmed, fans can expect more heartfelt drama from the midwives and nurses they love. The BBC is yet to announce official air dates for series 15 or the holiday episode — but excitement is already building.
