Child Airlifted After Serious Burns at Croydon Church Event

A young boy has been rushed to hospital by air ambulance after suffering serious burns at a Croydon church event this afternoon.

Police sealed off Our Lady of the Annunciation Church on Bingham Road after the incident around 2.21pm. The Met Police and emergency services including the London Air Ambulance swiftly responded.

Burn Injuries at Christmas Event

The child was attending a Christmas event at the church when he was badly burnt. An adult also suffered injuries, but thankfully they are not serious.

A Met Police spokesperson said: “Officers are assisting with an incident at a Croydon church. Police were called by London Ambulance Service at 2.21pm on Wednesday, December 11 to Our Lady of the Annunciation Church, Bingham Road, Croydon. A young boy was reported to have received serious burns during a Christmas event. One adult was also reported to have received burn injuries, these are not believed to be serious.”

Emergency Response Underway

The child was airlifted to hospital and is receiving treatment for the burns. Police are investigating the cause of the blaze that marred the festive gathering.
