Child Left Covered in Bites at Portsmouth Pub Play Area

A Portsmouth mum has hit out after her one-year-old suffered nasty bites at a pub’s play zone. The little tot was left with blistery spots all over his legs after playing in the Wacky Warehouse ball pit at the Sovereigns pub in Kingston Crescent.

Fresh Bites Spark Health Scare

The parent, who wishes to remain anonymous, took her child to a pharmacy in a panic. “When I put him in that morning, he had not a single spot,” she told UK News in Pictures. “After about an hour playing, I noticed fresh, blistery bites from ankle to thigh.”

The pharmacist confirmed the marks were fresh bites and advised her to complain to the venue. She was even given a note to back up the claim and told to take photos.

Venue’s Pest Control Claims Ring Hollow

The pub claims to have weekly pest control, but the mum’s worries fell on deaf ears. “They said they’d call me in two days. That was Monday, and it’s now Friday with no word,” she said.

After the pub’s social media deleted her comment asking about pest control, she phoned again but was told to wait for a callback. “The bites still haven’t gone down. I’m taking my boy to the doctors and will be gathering more evidence to take this further,” she added.

Disgust at Unsafe Play Area

“It could be flea bites, nothing terrible, but the fact that there are biting insects in a children’s play area is absolutely disgusting,” said the concerned mum.

Attempts to get a comment from the Wacky Warehouse manager were met with silence.
