Man Guilty of Murder Over Parking Row at Tyne Tunnel Trading Estate

A 68-year-old man, Alder Willis, has been found guilty of murdering 35-year-old Andrew Darn following a trial at Newcastle Crown Court.

Deadly Dispute Erupts Over Parking Spot

The fatal stabbing happened on March 27, sparked by a long-standing parking dispute between neighbouring businesses at the Tyne Tunnel Trading Estate. Willis, a business owner, and Darn, who worked nearby, had clashed just a day before the deadly incident.

Investigators revealed Willis threatened Darn, saying, “I’m going to kill you.” The very next day, Willis showed up at work armed with a kitchen knife. After a brief confrontation, he stabbed Darn once in the chest.

Bystanders’ CPR Fails to Save Victim

Despite frantic CPR efforts from bystanders and a quick medical response, Andrew Darn tragically died at the scene. Willis handed himself in at Middle Engine Lane police station less than an hour later, still holding the murder weapon. Before surrendering, he reportedly told his wife, “I’ll see you in 15 years.”

Trial Verdict and Community Shock

During police questioning, Willis confessed to the crime. After a two-week trial, the jury found him guilty of murder and possession of a bladed article.

Detective Chief Inspector, who led the probe, said: “This case is a tragic example of how a long-standing dispute can escalate to fatal consequences. Our thoughts are with Andrew Darn’s family and friends during this difficult time.”

Willis remains in custody and is due to be sentenced in the coming weeks. The case has sent shockwaves through the local community, serving as a grim reminder of the deadly potential of unresolved workplace conflicts.
