Police Officers Save Man’s Life After Pub Collapse Near Bishopsgate

Two City of London Police officers sprang into action to save a 22-year-old man who collapsed in a packed pub just yards from Bishopsgate Police Station.

Rapid Response in Critical Moments

On Wednesday, December 11, 2024, around 11:30pm, Inspector Eamonn Keane and Police Sergeant Hollie Fraser rushed to a pub after staff called for urgent help. The officers grabbed a defibrillator from the station and were on the scene within a minute.

Inside the crowded pub, the man lay unresponsive on the floor.

“We knew he wasn’t breathing. We had to clear the crowd to begin life-saving efforts,” said Inspector Keane.

Life-Saving Actions Under Pressure

  • PS Fraser immediately commenced CPR.
  • Insp Keane prepared and deployed the defibrillator.

The duo maintained CPR and shocks for around three minutes until tactical firearms officers, trained in advanced medical care, arrived to assist.

Quick Thinking Brings Positive Outcome

Due to the officers’ swift and coordinated efforts, the young man’s pulse returned, stabilising him before London Ambulance Service paramedics whisked him to hospital.

“This just shows how vital it is to have a defibrillator nearby and proper first aid training,” said Insp Keane, a 19-year force veteran.

Teamwork at Its Best

PS Fraser, with seven years on the beat, added:

“It’s about doing everything possible for the casualty while waiting for backup. The support from tactical firearms and LAS was crucial.”

Top Brass Praise Life-Saving Efforts

Commander Umer Khan commended the officers’ professionalism:

“I commend Inspector Keane and Sergeant Fraser for their calm, swift response. Their teamwork saved a young man’s life. Proud of our force’s collaborative spirit.”

This dramatic rescue highlights why first aid training and accessible defibrillators are lifesavers in emergencies. It’s a reminder that preparation and teamwork can mean the difference between life and death.
