SECAmb Declares Critical Incident After Major IT Fail

The South East Coast Ambulance Service NHS Foundation Trust (SECAmb) has declared a Critical Incident after a major IT meltdown.

On 10 November, SECAmb lost its Computer Aided Dispatch (CAD) system, forcing the service to switch to backup phone lines amid surging demand.

Chaos as CAD Goes Down

A SECAmb spokesperson said: “We are working hard with our IT providers to fix the issue and have activated contingency plans. However, losing CAD alongside high call volumes is severely straining our service.”

Despite the disruption, the service continues to answer emergency calls and attend patients.

Public Urged to Use NHS 111 for Non-Emergencies

SECAmb warned the public to only dial 999 for serious emergencies and to seek advice via NHS 111 Online for less critical issues.

“We thank our staff and volunteers for their incredible dedication during this tough time,” the spokesperson added. “Rest assured, we’re doing all we can to resolve this swiftly.”
