Romford Hit-and-Run Horror: Victim Named as Police Hunt Driver
Detectives have named the victim after a deadly hit-and-run in Romford — and are begging witnesses to come forward.
Deadly Crash on Petersfield Avenue
Emergency services rushed to Petersfield Avenue, Harold Hill, just after midnight on Saturday, 11 July. A car had smashed into two pedestrians at the junction with St Neots Road.
Mark Joseph Henry, 58, from Romford, was pronounced dead at the scene despite frantic efforts by paramedics.
The second victim, also 58, was rushed to an East London hospital with non-life threatening injuries.
Driver Flees Scene, Arrested Shortly After
The 36-year-old driver ditched the scene but was quickly caught and arrested on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving and failing to stop.
He was taken to an East London police station and has now been released under investigation.

Police Call for Witnesses and Dash Cam Footage
Officers from the Roads and Transport Policing Command are appealing for anyone who saw the crash or the fleeing vehicle to come forward.
