Massive Blaze Tears Through Leyton Warehouse

Twenty fire engines and 120 firefighters raced to an industrial estate inferno on Orient Way, Leyton. The flames gutted most of a two-storey warehouse unit, leaving destruction in their wake.

Emergency Services Swamped with Calls

London Fire Brigade’s 999 Control Officers took over 80 urgent calls as the fire raged. Station Manager Rod Wainwright, on the ground, warned locals: “There were large volumes of smoke and we advised all nearby residents in the area to keep their doors and windows closed until the smoke plume had diminished.”

Fire Brought Under Control After Hours of Battle

The Brigade was alerted at 5:22am and finally got the blaze under control by 12:05pm. Crews from Leytonstone, Homerton, Walthamstow, Stoke Newington, Stratford, and other stations fought the fire side by side through the morning.

Cause of the Fire Still Unknown

Authorities are investigating what sparked the massive fire. Meanwhile, the local community remains on alert as the clean-up begins.
