Massive Blaze Tears Through Norwood Scaffold Yard and Garage
A huge fire erupted late last night on Norwood High Street, leaving a scaffold yard and neighbouring garage in ruins. The London Fire Brigade (LFB) sprang into action at 11:08pm, dispatching 10 fire engines and around 70 firefighters from West Norwood, Brixton, Norbury, Forest Hill, and nearby stations.
Firefighters Battle Blazing Inferno for Hours
The fierce blaze raged for over two hours, engulfing parts of the scaffold yard and half of a single-storey motor repair workshop next door. About 30 people evacuated safely before the flames took hold. LFB Control Officers received 14 emergency calls as crews battled to bring the fire under control, finally succeeding by 1:16am.
Thankfully, no injuries have been reported.

Ten fire engines and around 70 firefighters tackled a fire at a scaffold yard and vehicle repair unit on Norwood High Street. Part of the scaffold yard and half of an adjacent single-storey motor repair workshop were alight. “Around 30 people left the property before the Brigade arrived. There are currently no reports of any injuries. The Brigade’s Control Officers took the first of 14 calls to the fire at 11.08pm and mobilised crews from West Norwood, Brixton, Norbury, Forest Hill, and surrounding fire stations to the scene. The fire was under control by 1.16am.”
