Massive Search Underway for Missing 76-Year-Old Iona in Witney
Nearly three weeks after 76-year-old Iona vanished, a relentless search continues in Witney town centre. Volunteers and police are working round the clock to find any trace of the missing woman.
High-Tech Hunt: Drones, Divers, and Water Units Join the Fray
Iona was last seen on Monday, February 12, sparking alarm throughout the community. Lowland Rescue Oxfordshire ramped up efforts on Sunday, March 4, deploying their Water and Drone Units to scour the riverbanks from dawn.
Police divers combed two kilometres of the River Windrush, joined by specialist teams from Avon and Somerset. Though the Avon and Somerset dive team has now withdrawn, local volunteers and authorities press on with the desperate search.
Police Plea: Any Information Could Crack the Case
Chief Inspector James Sullivan said, “We remain deeply concerned for Iona’s welfare and are exploring every lead. We urge anyone with information to come forward immediately.”
Members of the public should call 999 with reference number 43240068765 or report sightings via the Thames Valley Police website.
Don’t Hesitate to Report a Missing Person
Authorities stress that reporting someone missing is never a waste of police resources. The community holds onto hope for Iona’s safe return as the search continues with full force.
