Blazing a trail! East Sussex Fire Service runs daring high-rise drills
East Sussex Fire and Rescue Service staged a major fire drill yesterday at South Cliff Tower on Bolsover Road, Eastbourne. It’s part of six big training exercises across the region aimed at beefing up their response to fires in tall residential towers.
High-rise fire drills to save lives
These drills are crucial to making sure firefighters are ready to tackle any blaze in the county’s many tall buildings. The Fire Service is on a mission to keep residents safe by sharpening their crews’ skills with the latest cutting-edge training.
Exercises ramp up across Sussex
The training isn’t stopping in Eastbourne. Hastings, Brighton, and other spots are also hosting these vital fire drills to boost readiness across the board.
Experts say safer buildings mean safer communities
Assistant Director of Operational Support and Resilience Hannah Scott-Youldon said: “We are always learning from national and local incidents and improving the way we respond to emergencies. In East Sussex, we have a great many residential tall buildings and it is our job to ensure residents keep themselves safe from fire and reduce risks at home. We continue to work hard to support building safety and have delivered updated training to all our firefighters. These exercises help enhance that training.”
The East Sussex Fire and Rescue Service is fully committed to protecting residents and will keep pushing for better fire safety and emergency response across tall buildings in the region.
